With a new film version of Cyrano de Bergerac in theatres right now, and the play being performed at The Shaw Festival this season, I was reminded of the time that I played Vicomte de Valvert when I was with the Petrolia Community Theatre.

The three-minute sword duel in this scene is the most I ever rehearsed for anything in my entire life.

PS – the stage and backstage at the Victoria Playhouse in Petrolia are what I based the same spaces at the Trouper-Royale Orpheum-Galaxie Theatre in THE TROUPERS upon – and this duel makes a reappearance in the book, as well!
